Building One opened in 1933 as the main hospital for the Bay Pines VA campus and served in that role for fifty years. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it still holds its original tile mosaics and decorative painting.
Under general contractor ECRMJV — a Robins & Morton joint venture and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business — floors two through five were fully gutted and rebuilt, converting the historic hospital floors to modern outpatient primary care.
Durwood self-performed the interior framing, gypsum board, and acoustical systems behind that transformation — exacting work inside one of the busiest VA systems in the country, on a 337-acre campus along the Gulf.
